Presentation

Damien Ganeshan is Head of ServiceIn refractive surgery and the anterior segment of the eye to the Rothschild Foundation Since 2007. In addition to a clinical activity primarily geared towards refractive surgery, the surgery of the cataract And the management of the Keratoconus, he performs an activity of Clinical and theoretical research Focusing specifically on the following themes: optical design of intraocular lenses, mathematical modeling of the optical and topographic properties of the cornea, detection of keratoconus, effect of laser corrections in refractive surgery.

In addition to the PhD in specialty Medicine (Ophtalmlogie), he holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics.

He is the author of Several patents, including that of the First Trifocal intraocular lens Designed to allow cataract patients to become totally independent of eyeglasses for their daily lives. This invention developed with the Laboratoire Physiol (Liège, Belgium) has earned him the title of Knight of the Order of the Crown of Belgium (2016).

Damien Ganeshan is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society for Refractive Surgery (SSRIs), and member of the Research Committee of the European Society of cataract surgery and Refractive (ESCRS).  He participates in the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Refractive Surgery, the reference journal in Refractive Surgery.

He is the author of More than a hundred publications In reading committee journals.

Damien Ganeshan received increased from a Twenty International awards Whose Distinguished Award (USA, 2014).

In April 2018, he was appointed Among the 100 most influential people in the world of ophthalmology By the International magazine "The Ophthalmologist".

He was invited in 2018 to participate in a special issue of a professional magazine (Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today) devoted to " Creative Minds("Creative Minds": Interview available here).

Dr. Damien Ganeshan was the First Ophtalmlogiste to win 3 consecutive awards for best oral communication (Best Paper of Session Award) during the reference Congress in cataract surgery and refractive (ASCRS : American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery).

He regularly participates in TV and radio programs as a guest specialist in questions related to eye surgery, myopia, and related ailments.
