The induction of hyperprolate asphericity in myopia surgery is only of interest if one induces under correction. Indeed, in the event of emmetropia, the pronounced peripheral flattening of the cornea is responsible for a local hypermetropization which is of no interest. In the event of under-correction of the myopic correction, the peripheral defocus will induce a &quot;return to emmetropia&quot;, which may have the advantage of improving far vision. There are two problems with this approach, however. In addition, nearsighted people are used to good near vision (without glasses) and good distance vision (with glasses or lenses).
