Optimal rotation calculator for toric phakic IOLs

This interactive tool determines and visualises the optimal rotation angle of a toric phakic IOL (of the ICL, IPCL or similar type) to minimise residual astigmatism after surgery. It performs a full vectorial analysis of the corneal and lens astigmatism in J0/J45 notation, and converts the toric power between the IOL plane and the corneal plane while accounting for the distance between these two planes (equivalent to the effective lens position, ELP). Designed as a decision-support and teaching aid, it is intended for refractive surgeons performing phakic implantation.

Key features

  • Optimisation of the angle θ for minimal cylinder and a targeted spherical equivalent (SE)
  • Phakic-IOL-to-cornea toric conversion incorporating the ELP (Gatinel Q-ratio and vergence)
  • Vectorial astigmatism analysis in J0/J45 notation
  • Frontal and surgical views, optimisation curves and profiles
  • Dedicated to ICL, IPCL and similar toric phakic IOLs
